Minnie was born on 7 October 1857 in Stroud, Glos, the daughter of James Stephens who was the Headmaster of Tattenhall Boarding School for 20 years.She married Rev Tom Skeggs in 1879 and lived with her husband in Marseilles and Palermo until her husband death in 1927. The couple were childless but they became guardians for the three sons of Tom's widowed sister Ruby Skeggs. She died on 13 November 1939 in Birkenhead. She is buried alongside her beloved Tom.
