Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Samuel Charles Evans with the following comment:
I have been tracing my ancestors for over twenty years and until six weeks ago I hadn't been able to make a breakthrough with my Evans line. I have since discovered a large family of Evanses. Samuel Charles Evans was the nephew of my great grandfather, Edward Evans, who married in Australia in 1849. According to one census, Samuel was born in Australia and his grandmother's will, written in 1854, indicates that his parents were in Australia at that time. Samuel's father was Henry Thomas Evans who was a watch and clockmaker in High St Godalming, from about 1871-1910, when he died. It seems his daughter-in-law, who is also buried in this grave, not only carried on the business until her death in 1824, but continued to care for her sister-in-law, Sarah Agnes Evans, who had had an intellectual disability since birth. I'm planning a trip to England in September 2013 and hope to visit Godalming. In the meantime I would be most appreciative if you would send me an image of the grave. Thanking you in anticipation, Leonie Malins.
