Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of John Carlton with the following comment:
I live in Ontario, Canada. My great-great-grandfather John Carlton was a Master Mariner and Captain of the Sparkling Foam when he was swept overboard and drowned while entering the bay off the Cape of Good Hope. His body was washed ashore at Recliffe and I have not been able to find out where he is buried. I have his death certificate which states he died 9 October 1875. He was born 13 June 1871 to Thomas and Mary (nee Coast). His wife was Emily (nee Argent). Is there an inscription other than his name and dates? If there is any other information the cemetery would have to confirm this? This is a wonderful site you have, thank you in advance for your assistance.
