Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of George Sutherland with the following comment:

Mary Chalmers is my Cousin 3 generations back, I will get to visit Orkney one day, and finally get to pay my respects.sucha tragic story. Mary lost her husband at the start of the war, then died 2 days after her son was killed in war. So tragic, so wrong. It’s almost like it was all planned out. Land grab from greedy governments at any cost! Life was very tough back then, I’ve researched my chalmers and Pottinger family tree in the orkneys way back, I’ve scoured old maps and google earth to build a picture of Orkney. Once lockdown is over we will take a break there and get familiar with it. Thank you so much for the free pictures. I love archiving so if I can help then please let me know. Vicky chalmers
