The follow note is stored against L J Rockett record:

WW1 1914-19 Llewellyn John (known as John) was an acting 2nd corporal (paid) with the 401st Highland Field Company Royal Engineers when he was killed near Bapaume, Somme, France on 25 Mar 1918. The 401st was attached to the 51st (Highland) Division. John was aged 24. At the time the 51st Division, as with numerous others in the BEF, was below-strength due to losses in 1917 and the tired survivors were given a quiet part of the front line to hold. Unfortunately, the Germans had by chance chosen that location as one of the focal points for their Kaiserschlacht, the last great German assault, intended to win the war before the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) could arrive in great numbers. The offensive began on 21 March and John’s unit was among those that bore the initial brunt of it. I am researching the Rockett family from Musbury, Devon. John was born in Kingswood, Gloucestershire but his great-grandfather William Rockett was born in Musbury.
