Thomas Sludden was born in Gartcosh in 1880 the son of Cormick and Ann Sludden His grandfather was Edward Sludden who arrived in Scotland during the Irish famine years c 1841 He married Elizabeth Wallace in 1909 and had two children Thomas Charles, and Mary He died at the Somme in 1916 and his Gravestone is in the London Cemetery in Longueval France
