Sophia Clapperton's great Grandmother was Sophia Craise, born 20 Dec 1878 in Yester. She died 30 Jan 1850. She married Andrew Purves, born 10 Dec 1785 in Yester. They married in Whittinghame, in 1806. Their son, Andrew Purves 1816 to 1872 married Catherine Amos, born 1816 in Pencaitland. They married on 7 November 1836 in Stenton. Their daughter Sophia Purves (born 28 Sep 1839, Stenton, married James Clapperton (born 1818?, Stow?, Selkirk) in Stenton, 24 Feb 1870.
