He was married firstly to Gertrude Maud Hockin (1895-1943) and secondly to Doris May Gorvin (1907-2004). Courtney had 1 daughter with Gertrude named Marjorie Winifred Joyce Parkhouse born 19 Jul 1916 in Barnstaple, Marjorie married William Thomas Kitchener Coats (1915-1980) in 1940 in Barnstaple, Devon.
