The follow note is stored against George Pape record:

Born in England; the eldest of two sons and a daughter. Joined the Board of Excise (fore-runner of Inland Revenue) and became Secretary to the Scottish section in 1823. Head office at that time was Dundas House in St. Andrew Square; now the Royal Bank of Scotland. Became Collector of Excise in Dublin when the Scottish board was closed down in 1830. He returned to Edinburgh and married on 1st November 1842. They lived at Coltbridge House where George died on 12th October. He is interred in Vault No. 11. By his will was set up the George Pape charity trust.
