If this is the right man, Richard Edgecombe was born in Lustleigh, Devon and he was betrothed to a Martha Widdicombe, but although the banns were called the marriage never took place. I don't think Martha ever married. This is a mystery I'd love to solve. If Richard had married Martha I wouldn't be here today.
