Manager Bank of Adelaide. John Souttar was born in 1837/8 at Peterhead, Aberdeen, Scotland and died in 1910 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He married - 1. Mary, third daughter of John Galen, MD, Aberdeen, on 17 May 1864 at All Saints Church, St Kilda. Mary died 5 March 1865, aged 25 years, at Sandhurst, South Australia. Their daughter, Mary Galen Souttar, was born 26 February 1865 at Sandhurst, South Australia and died 7 June 1877, aged 12 years, at Gleneig, South Australia. 2. Joanna Wynne Daly, (1830-1899), on 9 August 1866 at Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide. Their daughter Anna Maria Gore Souttar was born on 16 October 1868 at Gleneig, South Australia. Employment - Messrs John Moir & Son, Aberdeen Union Bank, London Manager, Oriental Bank, Sandhurst, South Australia First Manager, Bank of Adelaide 1865-1879 Manager, Queensland National Bank, Sydney 1880-1886 Point Souttar, Yorke's Peninsular, South Australia, was named after him by Capt. Hutchinson, RN, commander of the Admiralty survey schooner ' Beatrice'.
