The date of death shown here is incorrect. Another photograph of this gravestone shown on another website, although misleading because part of the inscription is not shown, suggesting that the monument is to Thomas Smith not his wife Ann, does clearly show the date of her death as 25 Sep 1859. This is in agreement with information I have obtained from the church's burial registry. Ann, maiden name Hoyes, was born on 16 Jun 1807 at Harlaxton, Lincolnshire. She married Thomas Smith, a carpenter and joiner, on 09 May 1830 at Harlaxton. The couple lived at Barrowby for most of the rest of their lives.
