Mary Luty was born Mary Wilson in 1850 in Burneside Nr Kendal Westmorland. Her parents were Joseph Wilson and Mary Clarke. Her first husband was Richard Loft; they had a son Richard Henry Loft, but there is no record of a marriage. Richard Henry Loft was tragically killed after falling from a horse whilst staying with his grandfather Joseph Wilson in Burneside. Mary married Benjamin Luty in 1887 and they had a son Benjamin Wilson Luty born 1888.
