Roland Charles Hammond. Number 262944 Suffolk Regiment. Enlisted 11/10/1916 at age 18 years and 10 months.. Born c1898. Son of Florence Rose Hammond. Resided Potters Farm , Braiseworth. A Rowland (spelling) Charles Hammond of the Royal Engineers (but formerly of the Suffolk Regiment) died at “Home” on 09/09/1917. R C Hammond is buried, under a CWGC headstone, in the cemetery of the old St Mary's church, Braiseworth. Local lore suggests that he died of pneumonia.
