Huguenot refugee; who became known as Peter Allix. of the Compagnie Colonelle du Sieur de Hertree and the parish of Vingt Hanaps near Alencon Normandy. He fled from France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685 and took refuge in London leaving various houses and lands and kindred and preferment for conscience's sake. Large offers were made by King Louis XIV to induce him to return to France and abandon the Huguenot faith but without success. Honorary doctorates from Oxford and Cambridge. Treasuerer of Salisbury Cathedral. Buried in St Sepulchres church Holborn; London
