Son of Sarah Padgett, baptised at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor on 10 Sept 1815. Worked as ag.lab., then became landlord of the New Bentley Inn, south of Beverley. Two children: Richard Welbourne Padgett, born 1860 at Etton; Royal Naval Reserve; married Olive Mary Allison in 1890; died 1912, buried at Ellerker. And Sarah Ann, married Henry Thurloe, brewer of Cottingham, in 1888. Died 1895 at Cottingham.
