Robert Whitton was a stone mason and responsible for numerous memorials in Ripon Cathedral, Beverley Minster & St Marys Church Beverley. His brother James was an architect responsible for several schemes in Skegness including the Turkish Baths and his other brother Marmaduke with James built a number of stylish houses in Beverley which survive to this day.
