The Countess (later Princess) Brasov was the sister-in-law of the last Tsar of Russia. She contracted a morganatic marriage with the Tsar's younger brother Grand Duke Michael; who was murdered in 1918 during the Russian Revolution. As she was twice-divorced and not of royal birth; she was not accepted by her royal relations. She escaped Russia and remarried again after her husband's death. She died in poverty in Paris.
