From a prominent Jewish family; captain in the 1st Parachute regiment; joined the French Resistance network in London in 1940 after answering De Gaulle's call to arms. Parachuted into France and principally responsible for the Bordeaux-La Rochelle region; he was captured and tortured by the Nazi forces in Alsace and executed at Struthof camp with his Resistance network colleagues.
