This stone reads: Robert Brunton who died on the 15th day of August 1851 in the 76th year of his age He was shepherd to the Rt Hon Earl of Zetland at Upleatham for many years and in all his relative duties through life as a husband parent servant or friend his conduct was consistent with that of an Honest man and a sincere Christian Also Mary wife of Robert Brunton who died on the 8th Day of January 1868 in the 72nd year of her age
