The follow note is stored against Eric Melville Gould record:

2/Lt Gould, 3rd Battalion attached 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment. His mother, Elizabeth Sarah Colbourne Gould was a British subject born in Chile. His father, Claude William Shepard Gould was a Builders' Merchant and died in 1947. There is a brief notice in The Times - 17/7/1916 of the death of 2/Lt Gould. His Medal Index Card informs that he arrived in France 13/5/1916. His father applied for his medals 5/2/1922. On the 7th April, 1912 his sailed on the 'Ascania' to Maine, USA - interesting as the date is not far off the Titanic maiden voyage! I would be interested to learn where he went to school. Any further information appreciated. Regards ... Anne Pedley, Researching Devonshire Regiment Officers died on 1st July, 1916.
