Died of wounds Gallipoli Captain Henry James Sudell was a bellringer at Upper Clapton and a member of the Middlesex Association & London Diocesan Guild of Bellringers, he Died 28/08/1915. The University of London O.T.C. (Officer Training Corps) Roll of Honour says he was wounded at Suvla Bay while taking a convoy to another beach and died of wounds on the hospital ship Rewa the following day. The Bells of Upper Clapton were transferred to Watton at Stone but there will be a commemoration piece of ringing arranged for Captain Sudell on or close to the centenary of his death. His name is in the Rolls of Honour for Bell Ringers which are kept at St Paul's Cathedral, London.
