Albert was born in Leigh Surrey in 1897, he was baptised at St Bartholomew Church Leigh on 7th March 1897, his parents were Peter and Ellen Pescud (nee Dudley). In the 1901 census the family are living at Herons Head Leigh and they were still there in 1911. Albert enlisted at Kingston upon Thomas probably in 1915, he joined the East Surrey Regiment Service Number 16205. Sadly Albert died of his injuries on 16th June 1916. Nothing is known of his service, according to the East Surrey Regiment 9th Battalion War Diaries, no action took place on the day of his death, as he died of his wounds he was probably injured sometime before this, is states the Battalion was in the vicinity Wulverghem Belgium. Albert is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension Nord, Grave Number ll.B.85. He was awarded the British and Victory Medals. Albert is also remembered on the War Memorial at St Nicholas Church in Charlwood.
