George Jonas HICKS was born 19 Dec 1864 Dungog NSW he died 14 Aug 1943 George Married Letticia LEONARD daughter of Thomas and Margaret LEONARD nee MILLS Letticia had 15 children Dungog Chronicle : Durham and Gloucester Advertiser (NSW : 1894 - 1954) Tue 17 Aug 1943 Page 3 OBITUARY OBITUARY 'GEORGE HICKS. Death claimed an old resident of Dungog on 14th inst., in the person of George Jonas Hicks. Deceased was born here 83 years ago and was well known to everyone. He is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters:— John Thomas (Glouces ter), Mary (Mrs. Patrick, Hilldale), lieorge Sydney and Frederick (Dun gog), Henry James (Newcastle), Francis Gordon (Dungog), Stephen and Lindsay (Dungog), Florence Verlie (married), Maurice (Cook's Hill), and Bessie Margaret (married). Two sons and one daughter pre deceased the late Mr. Hicks. Deceas ed's widow was a Miss Leonard, of Hooke's Hill. The funeral took place on Sunday last and was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends. Hev. A. J. Dempsey officiated at the Methodist portion of Dungog ceme tery. Messrs. Fry Bros, had charge of the. funeral arrangements. Fuller reference will be made in a later issue.
