On 16 March HMS Invincible was wrecked off Happisburgh when on her way to join a fleet with Admiral Nelson at Copenhagen. The day following the ship sank with the loss of some 400 lives. One hundred and nineteen members of the ship's company lie buried here. This memorial stone was given jointly by the parochial church council and ship's company of HMS Invincible 1998
