Thomas was born 4 May 1829 at Hawnby, Yorkshire, the son of Thomas Abbot and Ann Barr. He died 23 Jul 1885 at Wetherby, Yorkshire. He married Elizabeth Barr in 1856. They had three children Thomas born 1858, Mary Hannah born 1864 and Sophia Anne born 1865.
