Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

In 1870, my maternal Great Grandfather, Alfred Hannaford b.1851-d.1908, his brother Robert b. 1844, both of Totnes or East Allington,Devon; Robert's wife Elizabeth Ann Pope of Plaigton b.1845-d.1915 and perhaps other siblings, migrated to Canada. After brief stays in Toronto and Burlington, the two brothers bought a duplex in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and established a plastering business which lasted a hundred years. I found the family in the 1861 Census of England; the Parents are John and Mary. Alfred married Carolyn Cornell of Toronto, and had 6 children in 7 years. She died in child birth and he married a Mary Smith. The had two more children including my Grandfather, William Stanley Preston Hannaford. (Named after the Governor General Lord Stanley of Preston.) As a consequence, I have an interest in the Hannaford family(ies) of Totnes. I will contribute to your database. Thank you

I think this may be the grave of the first husband of my great great great grandmother Hannah Stannaford, who afterwards went on to marry John Tolchard. We have both names Hannaford and Stannaford for her. Thankyou for your help Best wishes Jane

I am researching my Hannaford Ancestors who lived in Totnes in the early Nineteenth century before moving to Ashburton. I would love to contact relatives to share family information
