Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

George Middlewood is my Gt Gt Gt Gt Grandfather. His daughter Faith Middlewood married George Kirkbride in Leeds in 1842. Following the death of her husband George Kirkbride, Faith and her children emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand onboard the Portland in 1863. We have known about Kirkby Wharfe, Ullskelf and other local towns through our family history, but the power of the internet, including google maps, and your database/resource, really brings genealogy alive.
