Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I have been unable to find the root of my middle names Anstruther Elliot and am always on the look out for these family names between 1820 and 1890. Thank you for offering this service.

My Grandmother was Agnes Goodsir (b.1896). This Goodsir was a second cousin. I am starting to fill in more background information and would like to see what else is written on this stone. Thanks for the resource.

(requested on 24 06 2013)
I am trying to find out who my father William Goodsir's ancestors were whose father was also a Wiliam and whether he was related to this family of Goodsir's as my grandfather said there was a bust of a Goodsir in the Surgeons Hall of Fame in Edinburgh namely John Goodsir the anatomist who discovered twenty years before Louis Pasteur did and was the brother of Robert Anstruther Goodsir! My father also had a brother named John who died between the age of 18 and 20! A few of the names that came up were familiar to those my father had made a list of which I cannot find! My father was born on 4 November 1904 in Edinburgh and died in Rosyth on 17 September 1976 if this helps. His father died aged 84 when he died on 5 December 1957.
