Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Hugh [1816-1902] is the next younger brother to my great great grandfather William Middleton Tennent [1812-1878] who came to Australia in 1838. I have done a lot of work documenting our descendants in Australia from William. His fourth son John Pattison T is my great grandfather who was the only Tennent to return to Australia. The family returned to the UK in January 1856 where the 4 boys were educated at Merchiston School in Edinburgh. The 4 boys were all very good sportsmen, cricket and sprint running in particular. I have a picture of John that I would be happy to share but none of William M Tennent. He just never seems have stood in front of a camera or artist for a picture. Allow me to thank upon sincerely in advance. I will acknowledge receipt in due course.

Gilbert Rainy Tennent[1814-1889] is a younger brother of my great great Grandfather, William Middleton Tennent [1812-1878], the first and only member of the Tennent Brewing dynasty to come to Australia at age 26 in 1838. There is now in Australia a large number of descendants who can claim to be related to that dynasty. I have been assembling to the best of my ability as much as I can about the Tennents. With thanks, Ross Tennent.
