Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

David Ross Stewart is my great-great grandfather. He died of Malaria in Liverpool on his way home after serving as the Chief Magistrate of the Gambia. Our family story is that he was going to be knighted and appointed the Governor of Mauritius but of course he died before he could receive the accolade. I am hoping to visit Edinburgh later this year and find this monument myself.
