Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

It is possible that Robert B. Hastie is my maternal 11th great grandfather. My maternal grandmother was Bertha Hasty who was born in Union County North Carolina. I have been able with some certainty trace our lineage to Alexander Hastie, my 7th great grandfather. I would like to confirm those who have been indicated to be his lineage as well.

I believe it is my first ancestor that I have found In Scotland Robert B Hastie. Born in 1515 in Edinburgh, Midlothian Scotland. We believe that he was originally born on McNeil Place in Leith. I am in Scotland now, but will be returning to the states tomorrow. We have scoured Edinburgh, trying to pinpoint more Factual information on the cemetery where he is actually Buried. I do not, of course, expect that you will be able to answer me here, but on my return home, I would love to find out anything you could help me with. We have gone to the national archives to the Scotlands People section. Because I did not have grave names, parish records, etc. we were sty meat. Their database is also only go back to 1535. I have researched my family to ancestry and believe it to be correct that our earliest ancestor is indeed Robert B. Hastie. Though born in Leith, on McNeil‘s place per information, I received in a hint from Ancestry and which I do believe to be correct, we are now looking for the exact gravesite, which I believe you have pinpointed. So we are leaving now to find the cemetery and understand there are complications, of course, because of lack of legible, gravestones or even, grave stones for the ancestor. Or that as mentioned, another relative may be buried next to the ancestor we are looking for and perhaps that name was incorrect. Thank you so much for any help you can give! Cyndie Hasty, Conecticut
