Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

The Science Museum has a photo (I tried to send the web link...) which it is claimed shows people to do with the 1874 Transit of Venus expedition to New Zealand. However I think it's the December 1882 transit, in which case the man near the telescope eyepiece might be George Elmsley Coke and the woman might be his wife of a few months, Annie Isabella (and the man writing in his diary might be a certain Percy Puget White), since they are reported as having made observations. I do have a not-very-good photo of G.E.Coke in 1874 (he also participated in that year's Transit of Venus, but in Hawaii)- what I hope I might be able to do is trace some relative who might have photos of both Cokes for comparison with the Science Museum photo -- so please *do* give my details to anyone else who expresses interest in these people. Other details on the gravestone might provide further clues... My personal website: tobin dot fr Many thanks.
