Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Last Saturday (29th September) the Ayton Family History Society met at Ayton Castle in Berwickshire. At this meeting we had two ladies, a mother and daughter, from Germany. The mother told us that she new no information about their family further back than her grandfather Joseph Bray Aiton, born 1866. I promised to find some more information for them and found that they are descended from the Rev. John Aiton sometime minister of Dolphinton. I hope you will allow me to send your photos on to them in Germany. Thank you, David Eaton, Convener Ayton Family History Society
