Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Ethel's father. Henry James Gate was brother to my mother's grandfather-Alfred Joseph Gate; and my mother (Constance nee Gate) is still alive aged nearly 92. She is very interested in all the family history and knew about Ethel writing books but did not know about the gravestone in Epsom. She lived in Surrey in the early 1940's. Now lives in New Zealand as I am her only daughter. Very kind of you to collect all this information of gravestones - unfortunately we are too far away to be of any help. many thanks, Veronica.

I am a literature master's student of the University of Edinburgh and am researching on four collections of fairy tales written by Ethel May Gate (1882-1942). My mother is one of the last of the GATE family -now aged 94. She was Constance Armitage Gate- her Grandfather was brother to Ethel May Gate's father and I am trying to fill her in with as much information as possible.
