Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am researching the war deaths of people linked with Ashton-upon-Mersey, and St. Martin's church in particular. The ultimate aim is to produce a book of remembrance to be lodged in the church. In the interim, a remembrance of them will appear in St. Martin's parish magazine on the 100th anniverary of their death. Wilfred Kelsall was christened a St. Martin's and is commemorated on the War Memorials there.

I am preparing a record of those killed in WW1 and who were members of Ashton Congregational Church. Catherine Kelsall was mother of Wilfred John Kelsall killed in action on 12 October 1916. His name is recorded on the gravestone together with his fathers name John Kelsall. This information will help me clarify a number of queries that have been raised on the Trafford War Dead website.
