1902 first name on monumentFrancis Cawood was born in 1839, the youngest son of John Coward born 1795, also of Hunsingore, and Anne Finneley. Francis became a shoemaker in his early twenties and when he married Grace Hawksworth they were both working at Walshford Lodge, he was a cordwainer. Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

This is an ancestor of mine, my 3G Uncle and his wife who worked as a cordwainer at Walshford Lodge. It is thrilling to me that you have a photo of his grave. I have never visited Hunsingore, yet my Cawood (Coward) family seem to have lied there since at least the early 1700s.
