Cairns [ Carnes ] is my other family name. I will be in Edinburgh July 8th and plan to visit this graveyard. Thank you for the Robert Bell photo. I will also share info with a fellow researcher in Indiana USA my home state. Cairns were homesteading in Ohio and Indiana in the 1830's They immigrated from Northern Ireland but there must be a Scottish lineage. I will be conducting further research in Belfast before traveling to Edinburgh as we do not have the exact village/townland they lived in N.I. Thank you Charlene

I am searching for the Scottish connection to my ancestors who immigrated to USA from No. Ireland 1800 - 1820 I do not know their parents names as yet. My Cairns [ Carnes in Ohio USA ] married a Bell and both are Scottish names. My three visits to Belfast have not yielded results due to not having a town land or village in N. Ireland. I am getting close with searches. I have studied how the Scottish people went to Northern Ireland due to King wanting them out of the country. As more records become computerized I have a chance to make connections. I will be 75 this year and want to find them soon for another trip to N.Ire and Scotland. I found Cairnes in Knockbreda Graveyard in 2013 when I took my 16 yr old grand daughter to N. Ireland and then on to Scotland. We hope to return with family names to search for as well as locations in both countries. Thank you for any data I may find. Charlene Bell Cairns
