An entry for Winifred Clarer (Clara) Comber, listed as a 'visitor' in the Census of England and Wales, 1911, confirmed the story my mother told that her mother, Edith Mary Comber, was housekeeper to (Lord & Lady?) Stirling at their 'summer residence'. Lord (?) Stirling used to call my mother Freddie and instilled in her her love of gardening. Winifred with Father Charles and Brother Albert emigrated to Australia in 1919 after his wife Edith Mary Comber died in the influenza epidemic. Winifred died in Sydney, Australia aged 92.
