Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am researching the Furness Abbey Hotel. John Scoons/Scoones was landlord of the Furness Abbey Hotel from April 1866 until his death in 1875. He came to Furness from Birkenhead, but was born in Maidstone, Kent where he was baptized on 13 March 1820, the son of William and Elizabeth. In 1840 he worked at the Star Inn, Maidstone. In 1861 at Rotherham he married Mary Ann (Polly) Lillywhite, born 1836 at Yalding, Kent. John Scoones died at the home of his uncle Bare Syke, Backbarrow, Haverthwaite on 14 September 1875.
