Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Ancestry search - Dowles Manor House previously owned by James Arthur Taylor, I am trying to find everything I can about Dowles and the Taylor clan. Would really appreciate your help. Thanks very much.

The grave belongs to my grandfather - Jannion Steele Elliott - and the memorial was vandalised some years ago. I was wondering if your photograph was taken prior to the vandalism. I have very little idea of what his grave looked like before the damage. Many thanks, Nick

I am researching the relationship between the pioneering Palaeolithic archaeologist Worthington George Smith (1835-1917) and a small group of amateurs he took under his wing. J.S. Elliott was one of this group. He acquired a considerable amount of archaeological material from Smith which he stored at Dudley with the intention of it being used as the foundation of a new museum at Bedford. It is said that according to his will some material was to be moved from Bedford to Luton on his death. (This is not recorded in the copy of the will I have but was, perhaps, in a Letter of Last Instructions.) The accession register at Bedford shows that this transfer took place. This research is to form part of a paper to be submitted to 'The Antiquaries Journal' and will be the subject of a talk at The British Museum later this year.
