I'm keen to trace my maternal grandmother's ancestry.I know her mother was Alice Medland (born c1869). I know Alice hailed from Devon. I believe she may have been the daughter of Mosses and Emma Medland, who I believe lived for a time at least in the ancient parish of Stoke Dramerel. I have yet to confirm however that this Alice is indeed my grandmother's mother. The Alice Medland whose ancestry I'm interested in married George Hogan (from Belfast) in October 1891 at Plympton St. Mary, Devonshire. She died in Kasauli, India in 1896 when my grandmother was just 2yrs old. I believe George's 2nd marriage produced 4 sons - step-brothers my grandmother adored and whose families she remained in contact with to the end of her life. George died in Jamulpur, India at some time prior to the British exodus from India in 1947. Thank you for reading!
