It is very easy for you to check to see if there are any alternative spellings: you just need to look at the page that shows all the names listed under the starting letter (S in this case) of the surname you are interested in.

Please note that all ages and dates of birth in red have been calculated and are probably not on the monument.

You should treat the calculated dates of birth with caution as the ages given on monuments are often inaccurate. The dates and ages on many monuments are also often hard to read. It is therefore important to use the dates as guides as they may be incorrect.

The same person may appear many times in the above list. This is because a person can easily be listed on many different monuments. For instance, a person could be listed on their own grave as well as on the gravestone monuments of their children and their spouse. Occasionally names will be duplicated because the monument has in error been photographed and indexed twice.

Where a relationship is shown as unknown, this usually means that parts of the monument are illegible and relationship cannot be read.

Where no relationship is given this means that this is normally the first name on the monument. All the relationships on any particular monument relate to this first named individual.

Thanks

Thanks very much for the three pictured headstones of the Stacey family including both my G and GG grandparents in Radnage. Since I live in Canada, I do not know if I would have gotten the opportunity to visit the site my self. I do have one question. Is there a map of the cemetery that outlines where each headstone is located?

My great great great grandparents

Thank you so much for sending me a photo of the gravestone of my ancestors Mr. and Mrs. William Stacey who are buried in the churchyard at Nutfield. A very poignant moment - I am 75 and live abroad so doubt whether I will ever see it in person. All your hard work much appreciated!

monument transcription

A second extra big thank you because I have just realized that the transcriptions provided for the gravestones photographed contain valuable information not readable in the photographs. The photographs alone would have been lovely, tantalizing and very very frustrating without the transcription. So to who ever spent all that time in the graveyard of St.Mary the Virgin, Tadcaster, a big thank you from the colonies.
