EDENFeedback from a request to view Charlotte Maria North grave monumentThank you for your very prompt reply to my request. There was no image displayed on the link you sent me, but it did contain the transcription of what was on the monument which was extremely helpful. I would love to see the image if possible though. Despite not being able to view the image this time, I would like to say what a fantastic resource you provide. .... more

WOODSThank you!George and Fanny WOODS - thanks for the lovely clear photo of their grave in Altofts Cemetery, Near Wakefield, Yorkshire. It was such a quick response to my request! This couple didn't have any children and Fanny, my 2 x great aunt, came from Melton Mowbray, Leicetershire. I wonder if anyone from the family has ever seen the grave before I saw it today! Thanks to Charles for running the site and the volunteers who photograph, index etc the graves.

CALLENDERBamburgh, Northumberland, EnglandJames Callender. James was the Gardener at Bamburgh Castle back in the early 1700's. I found a gravestone on this website listing James Callender's daughters, Elizabeth, Miriam and Jane, along with (perhaps) his brother Aaron. James died in Newcastle Upon Tyne, in June of 1770, and is buried at St. Nicholas. He had moved in with his sons Michael and Robert who ran a garden nursery in the area. Does anyone have any information on who James Callender's wife may have been?

MASONThanksDear Charles, Many thanks for your prompt and efficient response. Yours is a great initiative and I will certainly search your website in the hope of finding more relevant photos. Strange but seeing the headstone of one's ancestors (john Mason & Mary Ann Hildon) brings them alive, certainly if there is no family photo of them available. Once again thank you so much. Linda

MARGARSONJACK MARGARSONMy husband was thrilled to at last see his Father's gravestone. What a wonderful resource this is, thank you for all your hard work in producing it. We have the grave number, row etc., but seeing the gravestone will make the task of looking for it a whole lot easier in a very large cemetery! Once again, , many thanks.

In appreciation Thank you for making this information available online and also to those who are taking photos of headstones at cemeteries across the world. It is invaluable for people researching family especially from a distance.

SHEARWOODFantastic resource for genealogistsCongratulations on your fantastic website, it is a treasure trove for genealogists as memorials can give so much information. I am researching family name Shearwood, in Lincolnshire, UK. The earliest definite ancestor I have found is Joseph Hiram Shearwood, born 1766/1767 whose memorial confirmed that he was a surgeon. I may have found his father, William Shearwood, born c 1716 in Limber Magna (Great Limber), Lincolnshire, but this needs confirmation. Once again, many thanks for your dedication to this resource.
