Son of John Charles and Annie Selina Hopkins, of 35, Duke St., Nuneaton. Killed 17 October 1918. Aged 22. Born Bakewell (Derbyshire), Enlisted Coventry, Resided Nuneaton. Buried QUIETISTE MILITARY CEMETERY, LE CATEAU.

SOUTHGATE Herbert William Leonard Southgate Thank you for the link to the picture of his memorial in his local church. Herbert William Leonard Southgate was a Kew Gardens trained gardener, an orchid specialist who was born in East Dereham, Norfolk and enlisted in his county regiment in WW1. As his plaque shows, he was killed in action at the Batlle of Gaza. Prior to Kew, He worked at Rainham Hall and Westonbirt Gardens, Glos. He is remembered on the Kew Gardens staff war memorial. I would also like is it possible that Lucy Richbell was buried in 1878 and not 1873 as i am not able to find a death in 1873 but have found in 1878 i do understand these old Gravestones have got so worn over time and it is so hard to see what is left on them.
