It is considered the first modern football club in France. The club plays in the colours of Oxford and Cambridge due to the original British players. William Langstaff was president of the rugby section of the club from 1901-1925 and the first stadium in Le Havre was named in his honour. She married William Longstaff at the English Church in Le Havre on 19 April 1888. They had three sons who are all remembered on this grave - George, Francis and John. Their daughter Mary 1896-1967 married Arthur Comyns, and is buried in Forest Row, Sussex, England, next to William's sister Jessie Langstaff.

My great grandmother was Jessie Longstaff and these are her close relations. She is buried in Forest Row, Sussex, having gone there in 1940 following the German invasion of France. Her husband,Victor Henrotin, is buried in Belleville cemetery. Thank you for your help.

I am doing research about the men who founded the Havre Athletic Club, the first football club in France, and led it in its early years. William Ramsay Langstaff was one of these men, heading the club from 1901 to 1905.
