Thanks for the image Charles. Considering the distinctive second name I expect that this is his family. Robert Belcham THOMPSON, born about 1864 in Castleacre, Norfolk, died Aug 1937. Married Elizabeth MARSHALL (born 1865, Litchurch, Derby) 1887 in Derby, Derbyshire, she the daughter of Luke MARSHALL and Sophia (MATHER). Children: Hilda May THOMPSON, b. 1890 Derby, d. Dec 1900 in Derbyshire. Kate THOMPSON, b. about 1895 in Whatstandwell, Derbyshire. Robert Albert THOMPSON, 1900 in Matlock, Derbyshire. Frederick Howard THOMPSON, b. 1902 in Islington, London. Dorothy Bertha THOMPSON, b. 1905 in Islington, London Four youngest children living with their parents in St. Albans Hertfortshire 1911.

Can you tell me if the information you provide for a graveyard covers all of them in that particular church? The reason I ask is that death records found for my own area indicate that more people of the same name may be interned there in which case I would need to visit personally in order to further my research. Kind regards and my thanks agin for information already provided.

Except for those cemeteries that only have one or two graves listed within the GPR, most have been photographed completely. This means that all legible grave monuments have been photographed and indexed. With older graves that are not indexed is usually because either the monument is unreadable or there is no monument. Often older graves would have simple wooden markers which over time would have become rotten and eventually disappear. This is why many old churchyards have relatively few monuments - only the rich could afford them.

My nanna and grandad, Frederick and Lillian Thompson, were buried in the municipal cemetary in epworth but I cannot find them on the list. I would like to put a gravestone on their grave as they do not have one.

HLF Thompson's grandfather, father of Henry the former vicar, was briefly married, 1890, to Jane, my great grandmother. Jane's grandson by a later child was my father, Harry, which is possible where the name came from. My middle name is Harry. Martin Harry Watson.

Thank you for sending these images so speedily! It is wonderful to have this resource available not only for me but for others in their research from afar. I live in Canada so your site has been very helpful in finding headstones of my English ancestors.

On looking at your list of headstones I believe you have not included the headstone for Ivor and Kathleen Thompson.

i don't know much about johns relatives. his father may have been named john also. i don't know. he was my great, great, great grandfather. i would like to know more about his relatives, both living and dead. thank you, robert thompson

Firstly, many thanks for the photo Charles. The information on it is however curious. The Henry data fits my ancestor exactly, as does his first wife Mary Jane (preferred to be mostly known as just Jane). Problem is with second wife Elizabeth. The headstone gives her death as 7 Oct 1891 but the only marriage registration I can find, anywhere, between a fitting Henry and an Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) was in Dec quarter 1891 ref Stockton 10a 69. Any ideas anyone??

The image of Emma Thompson's grave showed as husband and wife with the surname Harrison - no connection to Emma Thompson and her husband.

Thanks to all the volunteers involved in this project - fantastic resource , through this site I was able to find the Thompson graves I was searching for and today I am the first of our present family to visit their resting place....once again, thank you all for making this possible

Your service is amazing and I am really grateful to all involved. However the image you have for the grave of Mary Ethel Thompson is not correct. It is an image of the grave of other family members. To put it another way images of graves 24090 and 24059 are of the same grave. Mary Ethel Thompson died and was born in 1890, her parents were William E Thompson 1850-1931 and Mary Ann Thompson 1854-1931.

Looks like grave 24059 should have both photos against it as they are taken from slightly different angles. So image 8436 needs renaming to 8398a. Also the listing needs John Thompson (father) and Margaret Thompson (mother) adding to the grave as both are shown on the images. The image for grave 24090 is 8437 - I have changed the link so the image shows for this one correctly.
