Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am descended from the Mosmans of Auchtyfardle Lesmahagow, and fascinasted by their history and as I am unable to get to Scotland to see cemeteries and soak up the atmosphere I thought this photo would be nice. Thanking you Ruth

There is a great deal of speculation in the families of the house of Auchtyfardle, near Lesmahagow.~ the house has been demolished { early 20th centuary } leaving only a gate post to a field { so I am led to believe } The families are to my knowledge ~ DICK / KENNEDY / MOSSMAN { various spellings } There is a reference to ROMANO which I cannot fit in. To my reference the MOSSMAN bought from the KENNEDYS of whom they were in business with. FACT ; All generations of MOSSMAN had a HUGH MOSSMAN { I think there was 5 of them } I am decended from Hugh MUSMAN DICK on my maternal line. I have further details.
(requested on 15 03 2015)
My maiden name was Chancellor, and the Chancellors lived not far from Auchtyfardle and married Mosmans at least twice. On the death of the last of the Mosmans from Auchtyfardle my father inherited paintings that include portraits of this Hugh Mosman and his wife Catherine Farie, which I then inherited and I have their family bible and other portraits.
