Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I believe that she may be Bessie Goffin (not Coffin) - daughter of William Goffin and Patience Elizabeth Twiss (my great grandparents). He died (abt 1893) around the time my grandfather (John Willie Goffin) was born. Patience married Mr. Horrocks and the 2 families joined. Patience was so distraught about Bessie’s death (visiting the grave every day) that Mr. Horrocks decided to emigrate with the family to Canada. I am trying as well to find ANY information about Patience’s first husband (William John Goffin) Thanks! Rob

The name Coffin is incorrect. It is Goffin. She was my great aunt. Her sudden death was devastating to her mother ‘Patience Elizabeth Twiss - Goffin- Horrocks’ Apparently her mother visited the grave daily. The grief caused her step-father to emigrate the family to Canada shortly therereafter. The photo would be a great family connection to the UK.

Patience, mother of Bessie, was my great-grandmother. My grandfather was born after she married Horrocks. My mother, also named Patience, always said the story was that they wanted to emigrate for years, but that her grandmother wouldn’t leave Bessie who was not well enough to accompany them, so they didn’t come to Canada until after Bessie died. Who knows now which version is correct?
