Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am a descendent of of the Thompson family, some of whom emigrated to Lyttelton, New Zealand. I am a great granddaughter of Lewish Marsh & Eleanor Pace Thompson. My grandmother, Edith Mary Adie nee Marsh was the eldest of Lewis & Eleanor's 5 children. Eleanor's sister, Isabella was most unfortunately as a 12yr old, raped & murdered in the streets of Lyttelton. The tragedy resulted in The family returning to Sunderland in March 1892.

My ancestors are from the ship building Thompson family. My gt grandmother Eleanor Thompson was the eldest daughter of John Thompson, part of the extended thompson family who emigrated to Lyttelton, New Zealand in the late 1840's to expand the shipbuilding business in the new colony. I'd love to help but I live in Christchurch New Zealand & our city & cemeteries are badly mutilated & no go areas following over 10,000 earthquakes in 14 mths.
